Booner's blog

It's December where am I going to get my buck now?

Ok, so we made through the deer season, harvested a couple of does and have passed on a good number of young bucks that in  past years we might have taken. So much for not getting a chance at the big boy. I know you are sort of down on your self for not shooting that young buck but after all he will be bigger next year! All I can tell you is good job and next year there will be that many more older bucks out there because of your sportsmenship.

Now the big question! Where in this late season am I going to find a nice buck to enter into this Big Buck Pole contest?

Hunting can be a family affair!

While driving to a meeting in Mason Michigan tuesday night I received a call from the editor of Quality Whitetail Magazine, Lindsey Thomas. If your a member of the QDMA you know what an informative publication it is. Anyway he was telling me of a family in Hillsdale Michigan that wrote him the other day and the awsome buck that their 12 year old daughter harvested during the youth hunt the last week end in September.

If you didn't take advantage of the early season still harvest a doe!

This fall the Michigan NRC approved an early doe season for the Southern Lower Peninsula as well as the TB areas of the state. I view this as a great opportunity to not only to balance our deer herds sexually but to help to reduce our ever growing deer herd in the SLP. I hope that hunters in the SLP take advantage of the hunt and here are some reasons why and some tips for you during the hunt.
