I have heard so many hunters complaining about the low deer sightings this year. It was the same for our farm.  It was hard to hunt every day this year, but deep down I knew deer management was working and just be patient. We have practiced deer management for eight years now and boy does it work.

illgal deer

Does anyone know the last name of the person that shot all them illgal bucks in calhon co.

I thought I killed the smallest buck??

I just realized I didn't kill the smallest buck in the contest.  I got edged out by about 2 pts.  See Flint site 1293, that's me.  My other buck didn't fair to well either it was 1167.  I still killed the same amount of  bucks in 1 year that I had killed in my entire life.  I actually saw more deer this year than in any year before.  I was only shut out 3 times on the Rose Lake research area this year in 14 trips hunting.  My larger deer was taken in my back yard, where I only saw 2 deer all season while hunting, both bucks, the one I didn't get a shot was dandy 10pt, with crab claws on the en

Late Season Doe Hunt video - Double!

I'm posting the link to the video of me and my good friend's doe hunt from this week.  We both had tags and freezers to fill so we both brought our bows and decided to go for a double.  We had the deer patterned well along the edge of a cedar swamp and what a great afternoon to be in the woods! The video is a bit lengthy but is good quality and has great content, Hope you enjoy!

It's December where am I going to get my buck now?

Ok, so we made through the deer season, harvested a couple of does and have passed on a good number of young bucks that in  past years we might have taken. So much for not getting a chance at the big boy. I know you are sort of down on your self for not shooting that young buck but after all he will be bigger next year! All I can tell you is good job and next year there will be that many more older bucks out there because of your sportsmenship.

Now the big question! Where in this late season am I going to find a nice buck to enter into this Big Buck Pole contest?

There sould be a new way of scoreing next year.

I think that they should score the deer the normal way, that way you would know your deers real score, and there should be different groups. Archery, Shotgun, muzzleloader, Hand gun. Because i dont like to see the archery deer fall way down the list to the deer shot with guns.

Anyone know

Was wondering if everyone who is entered in the contest is supposed to bring there rack to the awards?
